The language Haiti requires
Haiti handles official papers in French, so an English record travels with a French sheet beside it. That sheet has to be sworn. You order a certified translation into French in Liverpool and the work goes to a traducteur assermenté, who signs under an oath already taken before a court.
Nothing on your English paper changes. A second sheet is built to mirror it, and the two are read together. Because the signature carries an oath, this route is priced and timed a little differently from the plain certified corridors, and it pays to know that before you plan.
What counts as a page
The unit is a sheet of the source paper. Not a word, not a line, not the French that comes back — which usually runs longer on the page and would push the bill up if anyone counted it. A short birth entry is one page. A form printed on both sides is two.
That rule is worth knowing because it makes the cost predictable. Lay your papers out on a table, count the sides that carry text, and you have the figure. At about £25 a page, a small family file and a full academic record land in very different places, and neither is a surprise.
What makes a file longer than it needs to be
Most oversized files are padded rather than long. People send two copies of the same certificate in case one is unclear, then a covering letter, then a blank reverse side that scanned as a page. None of it is read, and all of it is counted.
What cannot be trimmed is the document itself. Half a form is not a cheaper form; it is an incomplete one, and a certified translation for Haiti built that way comes straight back. Cut the duplicates, keep every side of the real papers, and the count lands where it should.
Per-page cost & turnaround
Standard work takes 2–4 business days from the moment a readable scan is in hand. The sworn step is what puts this a shade above an ordinary certified job, since the person signing has to be one of a smaller group. An express run brings the wait down to 24–48 hours when a date is already fixed.
Acceptance in Haiti
Everything is done from an image, so no paper of yours has to move. Where the record is a birth, marriage or death registered in this city, Liverpool Register Office issues fresh certified copies from St George's Hall, St George's Place, Liverpool L1 1JJ. A clean copy also scans better, which keeps the job moving.
