A letter, not a register entry
This paper is unlike most documents that get translated. It is not drawn from a public register and it is not issued once for life. A school, college or university writes it on request, on its own headed paper, and signs it. That means the version you hold was written for a particular moment.
So a certified translation of an enrollment letter in Liverpool starts earlier than you might think: with getting a good letter. A clean, current one, naming the course and the dates you are enrolled for, is worth more than any amount of care taken over the language afterwards.
The letterhead, the stamp and the signature
Three things on the page carry as much weight as the sentences. The letterhead shows who is speaking. The stamp shows the letter went through an office rather than a printer at home. The signature puts a person behind it. All three are set out in the finished text, in the places they occupy on the original.
That is why a colour scan matters. A grey copy flattens a stamp until it cannot be read, and a stamp nobody can read cannot be described. Lay the sheet flat, fill the frame, and use daylight rather than a lamp that drops a shadow across the foot of the page.
Cost & turnaround
The rate is about £25 for each page of the source paper, counted by sheet rather than by word. Most of these letters are one page. Standard work takes 2–3 business days from a readable scan, and the express lane closes in 24 hours when a term start or a visa appointment is close.
Where the letter is used
It turns up wherever somebody needs proof that you are currently studying: a visa application, a scholarship file, a family allowance claim, a request for a student rate on something. An official translation of an enrollment letter in Liverpool is usually one sheet inside a larger bundle rather than the main event.
That bundle is read as a whole, so the name on this letter should match the name on everything else in it. A shortened forename used by your school and a full one on your passport look like two people to a clerk who has never met you. Flag it and one form is used throughout.
Acceptance notes
Liverpool Register Office, at St George's Hall, St George's Place, Liverpool L1 1JJ, issues certified copies of births, marriages and deaths, not school papers, so an attendance letter always comes from the place that taught you. That is good news: a replacement is a request rather than an application, and nothing irreplaceable is ever in play.
