Indonesian on the file
An Indonesian office reads and files in Indonesian, so an English record from Reading needs an Indonesian text with it. The English page is not withdrawn. It stays in the bundle as the source, and the Indonesian sits beside it, matching it line for line and stamp for stamp.
The sworn credential
The credential on this route is a sworn translator, penerjemah tersumpah in Indonesian. The oath is taken before an authority and gives the translator standing to certify. It is that standing, rather than years of practice, which lets the certificate be taken by Indonesian authorities without further argument.
How the price works
Pricing is about £25 for each page of the source. Counting by sheet means a dense certificate costs what a short letter costs, so you can total your own file before ordering. Standard work runs 3-5 business days; express work returns inside 48 hours when a date is already fixed for you.
Names, dates and spellings
Indonesian writes dates and names in an order that can differ from a UK certificate, so the translator sets them out plainly and holds one spelling on every page. Mixed spellings inside a single permit file are the most common reason a set is put to one side and looked at again later.
Keep the paper record
Never post the only copy of a birth or marriage certificate for translation work, because a lost civil record is replaced only by ordering another. A scan is enough for the sworn translator. Reading Register Office at Civic Offices, Bridge Street, Reading RG1 2LU issues certified copies of birth, marriage and death records.
