What the certificate is asked to prove

This document records the day you became a British citizen, and abroad it is used to prove exactly that. A foreign registry, consulate or bank reads it to establish when your status changed and under what name. None of that lands unless the reader can read the sheet, so a second version goes across with it.

The certification and who signs it

An ITI/CIOL-qualified certified translator does the work, under the standard UK wording: a certified translation accepted by UK authorities, UKVI and the GRO among them. The signed page names both languages, lists the pages covered and states plainly that nothing was added or dropped. That page has to stay attached to the translated text at all times.

Cost per page and delivery

The rate is £25 / page of the English source, delivered in 2–3 business days or in 24 hours on the express lane. Ordering a certified translation of a Certificate of Naturalization in United Kingdom form alongside a birth or marriage record keeps everything on one accuracy page, which reads better abroad than three separate certificates arriving at different times.

Where it gets used

Dual nationality files take a large share, where a country of origin wants to record the change of status. Marriage abroad is another, since a registrar there has to establish nationality before anything else. An official translation of a Certificate of Naturalization in Wolverhampton also appears in property, inheritance and pension matters overseas.

What causes trouble

A name recorded differently before and after naturalisation is the usual sticking point, because a foreign register still holds the earlier form. Sending the record that bridges the two forms, translated at the same time, settles it in one go rather than after a rejection.

Wolverhampton Register Office at Civic Centre, St Peter's Square, Wolverhampton WV1 1RU issues fresh certified copies of birth and marriage records, which are the papers usually asked for alongside this one. It has no part in issuing citizenship certificates and certifies no translation. Scanning the full sheet, seal and reference included, avoids most of the remaining problems.
