English as the destination language
It sounds odd until you see a real bundle. Papua New Guinea reads official files in English, and most people applying from Scotland hold at least one paper that was issued elsewhere, in another language. That paper is the one this route is for. The English version, with its signed certificate, lets the whole file be read as a single set.
Sorting the bundle before you spend
Ten minutes of sorting saves real money. Put every sheet in front of you and ask a simple question of each: is this already in English? Anything that is stays as it is. Anything that is not goes into the job. Nobody should pay to have an English certificate rewritten in English, and it happens more often than it should.
- Foreign-issued birth, marriage and death records.
- Diplomas and transcripts from universities outside these islands.
- Police or court papers from another country.
Cost and clock
The rate is £25 a page and standard work takes 2–3 business days from a legible scan, with 24 hours available on the express route. Because only part of the bundle usually needs translating, the bill is often smaller than people expect, and the page count is agreed with you before any writing starts.
