Apostille vs. Embassy legalisation for Vietnam
Two roads run out of Italy. The short one ends at a single stamp, the apostille, which member states agree in advance to take from each other. The long one adds a second mark from the destination's own mission after the Italian stamp. Vietnam sits on the long road today, so that is the road your file must travel.
Vietnam's Hague status & what it means
Vietnam has joined the Hague Apostille Convention, and its accession year is 2026. Joining and starting are not the same thing. The treaty begins to run there on 11 September 2026, and only from that day does one stamp stand in for the consular stage. Before then the shorter road does not exist on this corridor, however tempting it looks.
The Verona → Vietnam route step by step
Begin with a clean copy of the record, drawn from the register that holds it. Take it to the Prefettura (Prefecture) if a public body issued it, or to the Procura della Repubblica if a court or a notary produced it. Pay the tax stamp where it is due. Then pass the stamped paper to a Vietnamese mission in Italy for the closing mark.
Cost and timing on this corridor
The Italian charge is €16 per paper and does not shift with the destination; a few record types escape it altogether. The consular side adds an official fee of its own, set by the mission and not by any Italian desk. Timing is driven by that second stage, since a mission keeps its own calendar, so build slack into any date you have promised.
