English is what Gambia reads

A file heading for use in Gambia has to be in English, so any sheet issued in another language is what needs attention. A certified translation into English in Stoke-on-Trent produces those pages and leaves the source sheet untouched. Working out which of your papers are already in English is therefore the first sorting job, and it is one you can do yourself in a minute.

The note you send with the scan

A translator sees a picture of a page and nothing else. They cannot see your passport, your older paperwork, or the list somebody handed you. Three lines fix that: the passport spelling of each name, the sheets you want covered, and any earlier English version of the same name. Those lines take a moment to write and remove almost every reason a set comes back wrong.

Scope is yours to set

Deciding which pages are in scope is not a judgement a translator can make for you, because only you have seen what was asked for. A certified translation for Gambia covers the sheets you name, in full, and is priced from them. Naming too few means a gap; naming too many means paying for pages nobody wanted. Take the list you were given and tick the papers against it.

Who signs the English pages

The person who wrote the text signs a certificate of accuracy, dates it and states the qualification held. An official English translation in Stoke-on-Trent carries that name on its face, and the name is the part a reader can trace. No court, register or oath sits behind it on this route. What you are relying on is a qualified individual putting their signature to a specific set of pages.

Cost, days and clean copies

Each side of paper costs £25, so a total can be worked out from the sheets in your hand before you commit. Standard work takes 2–3 business days and there is a 24 hour express route. Where a British civil record forms part of the bundle, Stoke-on-Trent Register Office issues fresh certified copies of birth, marriage and death entries by post from Civic Centre, Glebe Street, Stoke-on-Trent ST4 1HH.
