One record, more than one version
A single event in the register can be issued as more than one kind of paper. The short version states the fact and little else. The longer version repeats it and adds the detail sitting around it in the register. Both are genuine and both are certified, so nothing on either sheet warns you that the other exists.
That is why a certified translation into English in Nottingham should be ordered after the version question is settled, not before. The wording of the new text follows whatever is on the sheet in front of the translator. If the sheet is thin, the English version is thin, and no amount of good writing can add what was never printed.
Getting the right copy in the first place
For an event registered in this city, Nottingham Register Office is the source. It sits at The Council House, Old Market Square, Nottingham NG1 2DT and issues certified copies of births, marriages and deaths. Ordering a fresh copy is cheap, gives you a clean flat sheet to scan, and means the paper you already hold stays in your own hands.
Do the same check on anything issued by a school, a court or an employer. Ask yourself which of their forms your list actually names, then get that one. Most of the delay on a certified translation for Gambia is spent waiting for paper, not waiting for words.
Price, speed and the cost of a second run
The rate is about £25 for each page of source paper, counted on sheets rather than words. Standard turnaround is 2–3 business days from a readable scan, and the express lane closes in 24 hours. Those figures apply to each run, which is the plain arithmetic behind getting the version right first time.
An official English translation in Nottingham is sent back to you as a scan before anything is printed. Read the names, dates and reference lines at that point and compare them against your list one more time. It is the last cheap moment in the whole process, and it takes about two minutes.
