Three words, one job
Requests rarely arrive in plain English. One asks for a traduzione giurata, another for an asseverazione, a third for the work of a traduttore giurato. All three describe the same sworn route, and none of them is satisfied by a certified translation into Italian in Leeds of the ordinary kind. Recognising the vocabulary is the first practical step you can take.
Who is allowed to swear it
A traduttore giurato is a translator whose standing lets them swear to the accuracy of what they wrote. That oath, rather than the quality of the prose, is what the sworn route is built around: it moves responsibility for a wrong date or a misread name onto a named person. It is also why this work cannot be handed to just any competent speaker.
Why the sworn form is asked for
Italian courts look for the sworn form, and requests written for them borrow that vocabulary even when the file is going somewhere quieter. A certified translation for Italy in this form arrives with the statement of accuracy sworn and dated, so a reader is not asked to take the wording on trust. That is the whole design, and it explains the extra care in the writing.
Paper, pace and price
The source document stays yours: the work runs from scans, and where the paper is a birth, marriage or death entry, Leeds Register Office at 2 Great George Street, Leeds LS2 8BA issues a fresh certified copy to use instead. Pricing is about £25 a page by sides, with 2–4 business days as standard and 24–48 hours when the date will not move.
