The sheet you actually need

Start by looking at what you hold. A printout from a website proves nothing, however accurate it is. What a foreign body wants is a sheet from the office that keeps the register, signed by hand and sealed, setting out the mark, the owner and the filing details. Order that sheet fresh, because a signed extract from years ago will not match the register as it stands today.

Why firms ask for it at all

The reasons are nearly always commercial. A partner overseas wants to see who owns the mark before signing a licence. A customs service abroad wants proof of title before it will hold fake goods at the border. A court hearing a copying case wants a sealed paper rather than a screenshot. In each case you can apostille a trademark record in Bari and hand the reader something it can rely on.

Which counter takes it

A register extract is a state paper, so it goes to the Prefettura, the government office in the province. Deeds signed in front of a notary, such as the paper assigning a mark to a new owner, go to the Procura della Repubblica instead. Firms often need both in the same bundle, which means two counters in one week. Sort the order of the visits before you start, not halfway through.

What the stamp cannot do

Be clear about the limits. The stamp says the signature and seal on your extract are real. It gives you no rights outside this country, and it does not stop anyone filing the same words in another register. Protection abroad comes from filing there, not from a stamp here. Where you apostille a trademark in Italy the paper still speaks only about the entry in the register here.

What it costs at the desk

The apostille cost for a trademark extract in Bari is the €16 tax stamp for each sheet handed in, and some papers are exempt from it. Buy the stamp at a tobacconist or let us buy it. Anything the register office charges for the extract itself is separate and set by that office. No official waiting time is published for the counter, so leave room for a second visit.

Keeping the paper fresh

A mark changes hands, gets renewed, or has its list of goods trimmed, and the register follows all of that. A reader abroad who spots an old date on your extract will ask for a newer one. So order the extract close to the moment you need it, then stamp it at once. The legalisation of a trademark extract in Bari does not freeze the register behind it.

How it gets read on arrival

The extract lists dates, numbers and classes in a layout a foreign clerk may never have seen. Expect to be asked for the text turned over, and confirm the required language with the receiving office in writing first. Then have the translation sworn before a court here, so the wording carries an oath. Send the sworn version and the stamped extract together, held with one staple.
